Altea, (Spain) – Eleven-time state and four-time Balkan champion Lejla Tanovic began on Friday her first stage of the Costa Blanca UCI S2 race. The race was held in four stages and was driven in pairs. Lejla competed alongside Spain’s best athlete and currently 28th cyclist Rocio Del Alba Garcia Martinez, who finished third in the same race last year.
Rocio and I have a great collaboration, which is key to this type of race, last year we managed to take third place with a team ride. Although the main part of the season starts in April, this race is a good opportunity to check what we have done so far at the training camps, as there will be several riders from the very top of the world cycling ranking” said Lejla Tanovic.
Lejla Tanovic and her partner Rocio Del Alba took second place in all four stages as they did in the general standings, earning them 70 UCI points each.
“Lejla and Rocio rode experienced and managed to avoid more serious crashes or technical problems. Once again, Lejla showed that she can handle the best in the world, and I’m sure we will have great results by the end of the season. After only a few days of rest another block is waiting for us to prepare for the upcoming season, ” said national team coach Amar Njemčević.
The next race for our ambassador Lejla Tanovic is the XCO Chelva of the UCI C1 category, which is also being held in Spain, and after that she will start with preparations for the UCI S1 Grand Prix Grand Prix stage race in Banja Luka, where she won the stage race on last year.
